MX Record Check

Find mail exchange (MX) records for any domain.

How to use

Enter a domain name and click Check MX. Queries live records via Google public DNS.

Results show each mail server with its priority number (lower = more preferred).

How to use the MX Check tool

MX (Mail Exchange) records tell the world which servers accept email for a domain, in priority order. If MX records are missing or misconfigured, inbound email fails or is silently dropped — no error, no bounce. This checker queries the live MX records of any domain via Google public DNS and lists each mail server with its priority so you can verify your delivery setup in seconds.

  1. 1 Enter a domain name, for example gmail.com or dowithsudo.com.
  2. 2 Click Check MX to query live records via Google public DNS.
  3. 3 Read the results: each mail server with its priority number (lower = more preferred).

Example: Check dowithsudo.com

Input
dowithsudo.com
Result
Priority 10 → mail.dowithsudo.com
Priority 20 → backup.dowithsudo.com

MX Check FAQ

What are MX records?

MX (Mail Exchange) records list the mail servers authorized to receive email for a domain, ordered by priority. The lowest number wins: mail is delivered to that server first, with the others as fallback.

Why is my email not arriving?

Common causes include missing MX records, a wrong mail server hostname, or the hostname itself having no A record. Run this checker and confirm at least one MX record exists and points to a resolvable hostname.

What does the priority number mean?

Priority is 0-65535; lower is more preferred. If the highest-priority server is unreachable, the sending server retries the next one. Identical priorities mean load balancing across those servers.

Do I need SPF and DKIM too?

MX records control delivery, but SPF, DKIM, and DMARC (TXT records) control deliverability — whether mail lands in the inbox or the spam folder. Check them with the DNS health check tool.
